Finances Update
No income generated in last month.
Underwriting rates have been added to the website.
"Underwriting packages start at the low price of $100 per month for 20 prime-time(5:00pm-midnight Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:00AM-midnight Saturday and Sunday) mentions or $70 for 20 overnight mentions(Midnight-6:00AM Monday-Friday, midnight-8:00AM Saturday and Sunday).
Prepay six months and receive a 5% discount, prepay for a year and receive a 10% discount."
At Bill's suggestion and with full support of all in attendance an additional 'Introductory Offer' will be added to the website wherein a client can get the first three months at half price to 'test the waters.'
Our current plan is to focus on Fern Creek businesses, but certainly reach out to other businesses in Louisville as well.
The first steps in implementing sustaining memberships for radio have been put in place. Matt has setup a Paypal account linked to Radio's bank account. As soon as it has been confirmed(Monday or Tuesday) we will be adding those options to the website.
Promotion
The current tri-fold flyer is in need of updating. Matt has taken this task.
New Business
Martin Luther King Jr Annual Peace Concert and Birthday Celebration - We have been asked to record and/or possibly broadcast this event live on Friday, January 15th. Martin and J have volunteered their services.
Theatre - ULYSSES' CREWMEN - We have been asked to stream this live on January 27th. Martin and J have volunteered their services.
Brainstorming
David offered that he has the resources to help business record their own spots for underwriting if they so desire.
David offered that he has a live dial-in number available for anyone interested in doing a call in talk show.
We are looking at a future calendar date to pull some of the show producers together to do a skills share with anyone interested in doing radio.
J and Martin offered that they are working on several shows to be included in the broadcast - Local music, Global music, and Best of Noize bands.
Consensus on current priorities: 1. Get the antenna raised to increase signal range 2. Get the word out about the station and start building an audience.

Meeting notes from December Meeting
Next meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, January 9th at 3:00 PM. Location TBD.
Need for promotion in community
We need to promote listener-ship and make it known that locally produced programming is welcomed.
Handbills, posters, flyers, etc in local stores and public places. Possible street solicitation (including distributing handbills), although most felt it was too cold for this.
Finances
First priority is to get enough income to cover ongoing expenses (approximately $100 per month), then work on back balances.
We agreed to also give 10% of anything above the $100 per month to the Brick House. Once we have the back balances paid, we will readdress that percentage.
Possible sources of income
- Online memberships. John has committed to getting a membership program in place via the website.
- Underwriting. Matt has been researching this. Hopes to get one or two major underwriters to start with.
Governance
Agreed we need to start putting a governance structure in place.
- Matt Brier was elected Chair.
- John Hicks will continue temporarily as treasurer.
- Persons currently active in operations and production are members by default: Matt Brier, Richard Slawsky, John Hicks, David Link, Whit Forrester, LB, Evan Burkhead, Cherise Williams, Rick Roderick, Dennis Welch
Future membership will be based on a more formal application-and-approval process after performing volunteer hours in production or operations.
Operations software
We'll be looking into open source alternatives to our current kludgey operations software. The most likely candidates are:
- Campcaster
- Rivendell
News operations
John said he still intends to produce a news segment for WXBH in conjunction with a Fern Creek community news/citizen journalism site he hopes to build whenever he gets around to it.
Skills share
At some point in the future we would like to get the producers together to share skills and ideas with one another as well as share information and skills with those who would like help producing their content.

WXBH Radio Meeting(August 15th, 2009)
Location: Rainbow Blossom, Gardiner Lane Shopping Center, 3046 Bardstown Rd. (upstairs)
It's been a while since we've had a radio meeting and there are now a number of people working on the project who've never met each other. This will be a rather informal meeting designed to let us get to know each other, make sure we're communicating properly, and hopefully facilitate some networking among people with mutual interests. If you can't make it at 5, feel free to drop in when you can! The location is at the new Rainbow Blossom Foods (Gardiner Lane Shopping Center). They have ameeting room on the second level. Call John (213-0428) with questions, suggestions, complaints, etc. See you there!
WXBH is finally on the air as of June 15, 2007.
After two years of uncertainty, through diligent work, members of the WXBH governing board have struck a timeshare and facility sharing agreement with Fern Creek High School. We will be broadcasting during summer vacation without interruption. During the school year we will broadcast every weekend, every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 PM - 6:00 AM, and every Tuesday and Frday from 11:00 PM - 6:00 AM, plus school holidays.
Please join us.
Bring your talents, knowledge and passion to WXBH as we get everything up and going. Take a look at our Get Involved page to find out how when and where our meetings are located.
We are in the midst of pulling together a studio at the Brick House that will be available for programmers to come in and record shows to be broadcast. Currently We are producing content at multiple studios around the city in kitchens and living rooms.
